Meet Angie Ruff
Founder
From Corporate Leader to Culinary Entrepreneur
Angie has over 24 years of experience in the savory and dry spice industry. Prior to starting Yum Distribution, she worked as the Vice President of Operations at a large food manufacturing plant. In 2018, she left her corporate job to become an entrepreneur. She felt starting her own business was the “scariest thing” she had ever done, so she leaned in on family and the lessons they taught her for guidance.
Angie’s grandmother, Mary, is a major inspiration for Angie and her values around family, sharing, and Southern cooking traditions. Mary helped raise Angie, teaching her that you should always have extra biscuits, beans, or other foods in your kitchen to share with others just in case someone comes over hungry.
Angie named her first business Freedom Mill Foods, the street her grandmother lived on, to honor her grandmother’s legacy and work ethic. Now, Freedom Mill Foods is just one of the brands under the Yum Distribution umbrella. Today it is joined by two other successful brands: Happy Ending Rubs and Sweet Little Devil.
